Forty elephants that had strayed from Tsavo East National Park into the Kamboo and Kiboko areas of Makueni County have been successfully located and contained, easing fears of escalating human-wildlife clashes.

Chyulu Senior Warden Peter Njoroge reported that the elephants were moving in two groups across land owned by the University of Nairobi. They have since been relocated to the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KARLO) grounds in Kibwezi.

Warden Njoroge reassured local residents of their safety and emphasized the Kenya Wildlife Service's ongoing commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence between communities and wildlife.

Residents of Kiboko have previously expressed concerns over frequent elephant incursions that have resulted in significant crop damage.
