Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has announced her resignation from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the ruling party led by President William Ruto.
Speaking at a press conference on July 30, Jumwa explained that her decision followed extensive consultations with her constituents and personal reflection. She described the move as one of the toughest in her political career.
Reasons for departure
- Jumwa expressed deep disappointment over what she described as neglect and humiliation from President Ruto despite her unwavering loyalty.
- She recounted being denied entry at a meeting between the President and Coastal political leaders, signaling a breakdown in their relationship.
- The former Cabinet Secretary also revealed that her efforts to communicate with the President went unanswered.
"I supported President Ruto wholeheartedly, campaigning for him ahead of others, yet I have been sidelined and even denied any role within his administration," Jumwa said. "I have been turned away from State House and humiliated repeatedly."
Jumwa served as Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board until May 20, 2026, when her appointment was nullified by the High Court for being unconstitutional.
