Armand Duplantis Sings Official Anthem for World Athletics Ultimate Championship
World record holder Armand Duplantis wrote and performs 'Gold', the anthem for the upcoming World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest.
Swedish pole vault sensation Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis has expanded his talents beyond the track by composing and performing the official anthem for the World Athletics Ultimate Championship set for September in Budapest.
At 26 years old, Duplantis, who holds the world record and is both the reigning world and Olympic champion, crafted the song titled "Gold" to embody the spirit of representing something greater than oneself.
"I wrote the song around representing something that's a lot bigger than yourself," Duplantis explained. "When we're on the track, we represent our family, team, and coaches. Music and sports unite people in the best way, and 'Gold' captures that essence."
The World Athletics governing body announced that the anthem will be featured throughout the three-day event, both in broadcasts and live at the venue. Duplantis will also perform the song live during the championship's closing ceremony on September 13.
The World Athletics Ultimate Championship is a new, high-stakes competition bringing together Olympic champions, world champions, Diamond League winners, and the year's top-ranked athletes. The event offers a $10 million prize pool and aims to determine the "champion of champions."
