Arsenal have finalized the signing of teenage midfielder Axel Donczew from Cardiff City, with the 16-year-old completing his medical at the north London club.
Donczew made history at Cardiff as their youngest-ever player, debuting at just 15 years and 234 days old during the 2025/26 season. He appeared twice for the Welsh side in the EFL Trophy and was part of the squad for a high-profile EFL Cup quarter-final against Chelsea.
Cardiff City head coach Brian Barry-Murphy praised Donczew’s talent, stating that if players are good enough, age is no barrier for Arsenal.
The arrival of Donczew adds to Arsenal's summer recruitment, which already includes goalkeeper Illan Meslier, winger Christos Tzolis, and defender Piero Hincapié on a permanent deal.
