The second edition of the iToka festival is set for Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Eva's Garden in Redhill, Limuru. This day-long event celebrates African creativity through music, visual arts, fashion, and a vibrant marketplace.

Rooted in Gikuyu tradition, the festival’s name, "iToka," refers to boundary plants. Organisers have reimagined this symbol to represent connection and cultural belonging rather than division.

Festival Highlights

  • Live performances by artists including Addeh Prince, Nyawira Siren, iNala, Folk Fusion, Flow Flaani, Leting, and CEDO.
  • Aunty Jemimah and Kibunja will host the event, guiding audiences through the diverse programme.
  • DJ Maina Rada Safi and DJ J.Y. will provide music between sets.
  • Curated visual art exhibitions and a fashion showcase will complement the performances.
  • A creative marketplace will offer a platform for entrepreneurs to display and sell their work.

Chira Njoroge, founder of Tuwashow Media and one of the festival’s organisers, explained that iToka aims to create meaningful experiences that celebrate African heritage while embracing future creativity. The festival provides a platform for artists and cultural practitioners to connect with audiences and new opportunities.

Expressing her excitement, Aunty Jemimah said, "I'm thrilled to be your MC for iToka – The Crossings! It’s going to be an unforgettable celebration of music, culture, and community." One of the performers highlighted the festival’s role as a space where African music and stories can be shared freely, promising a raw and authentic experience for attendees.
