Adam Ampa Besigye, son of prominent Ugandan opposition figure Kizza Besigye, has made a heartfelt plea to President Yoweri Museveni and General Muhoozi Kainerugaba to release his father after he collapsed during a court hearing in Kampala.
In a public statement, Adam described the moment as heartbreaking, emphasizing the pain of seeing his father, who has served the law, in such a fragile state. He appealed not as a politician but as a son, calling for mercy, compassion, and humanity.
Call for Compassion and Justice
Adam urged the authorities to consider Besigye's age and deteriorating health, highlighting that his family believes the veteran opposition leader is innocent of the treason charges he faces. He stressed that Besigye has always pursued political change through his convictions without seeking harm to anyone.
