US-based Bingo Technologies has officially launched the Bingo E2, an electric vehicle designed specifically for Nairobi's ride-hail industry. The unveiling took place at a well-attended event featuring representatives from major ride-hail platforms including Uber, Bolt, Little, and Watu, alongside government officials and investors.
The E2 addresses the pressing issue of high fuel costs that have burdened Nairobi's ride-hail drivers, who collectively complete about 500,000 trips daily. The vehicle incorporates a dual-battery system—a fixed onboard battery paired with a swappable unit—enabling a range of up to 440 kilometres per charge without reliance on petrol or diesel.
With Kenya's electricity grid predominantly powered by renewable energy, the E2 offers significantly reduced operating costs, a major relief for drivers whose earnings have been heavily impacted by fuel expenses.

Daniel Huang, CEO of Bingo Technologies, emphasized the vehicle's focus on empowering drivers to own their cars, stating that Nairobi is the ideal market for this model. Commercial Advisor Kevin Simmons highlighted the E2's strong investment appeal for fleet owners and drivers alike.
Industry and Community Reception
Moses Nderitu from the Electric Mobility Association of Kenya praised the launch, noting Kenya's potential as a leading e-mobility market due to its renewable energy resources and transport cost challenges. Fleet operator Thaiya Waronja confirmed plans to deploy the E2 within Uber and Bolt fleets.
Bingo Technologies plans to begin deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2026. Ahead of this, a public test-drive event is scheduled for July 29 at Delta40, allowing drivers and the public to experience the vehicle firsthand.
