A tragic accident in Bomet County has left a family devastated after a woman lost her mother to a falling tree while she was gathering firewood. The incident occurred during rainy and windy conditions, highlighting the dangers that can unexpectedly arise from everyday tasks.

Last Moments Together

Cheptab Mososwoek shared her heartbreak after losing her mother just hours following a shared lunch. The mother had gone out to collect firewood she had already purchased for the household when the fatal accident happened.

"We had lunch together yesterday, and that was the last time I saw you. That is so cruel and so unfair," Cheptab expressed, underscoring the suddenness of the loss.

Routine Errand Turns Fatal

The mother’s errand was a routine domestic task, yet the adverse weather conditions contributed to the tragedy. As she was out in the rain and wind, a tree fell on her, causing her death instantly.

"You went to do something so simple: fetch firewood for us that you had bought, in the rain and wind, and the tree fell. It's so heartbreaking," Cheptab lamented.

Community Support

In response to the tragedy, a fundraiser has been scheduled to support the family. It will take place on July 31 at Kapsir village, Konoin constituency, within Bomet County.
