Boni Khalwale Reveals Edwin Sifuna Donated KSh 500,000 Following Gloria’s Burial
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale confirms Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s KSh 500,000 donation and attendance at Gloria’s burial, urging Kakamega residents to support Sifuna.
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has addressed speculation surrounding Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s role after the sudden death of Khalwale’s wife, Gloria Sekeiyan, on August 15, 2026.
During Gloria’s burial on August 21 in Kakamega County, Khalwale disclosed that Sifuna was among the earliest to offer tangible support by donating KSh 500,000 to assist with the funeral arrangements.
"Edwin sent me a message asking about Sylvia Wendo and contributed KSh 500,000, which jumpstarted the donations for the burial," Khalwale told attendees, highlighting Sifuna’s generosity.
Sifuna’s Presence at the Funeral
Contrary to earlier online doubts about his absence, Sifuna personally attended the burial ceremony. His arrival was warmly received by mourners, momentarily pausing proceedings as they cheered his presence.
Prior to attending, Sifuna had expressed condolences publicly, writing, "Omwami @DrBKhalwale pole sana for your loss. May God comfort you and your family in this difficult time. Khulialala Omwami. May her soul rest in peace." He was accompanied by fellow Linda Mwananchi movement members, including Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi.
Khalwale’s Political Appeal at the Funeral
Taking advantage of the gathering, Khalwale reiterated his endorsement of Sifuna’s presidential ambitions. He introduced Sifuna as "the next president" and urged Kakamega residents to mobilize support.
- "I want 1 million votes from you to Edwin Sifuna so that I can go sit with the President and tell him, my former president, how are you and how does it feel?" Khalwale appealed.
- He also asked for prayers for Sifuna, citing "serious security implications" the senator faces.
Khalwale assured that Sifuna would have an opportunity to address those gathered at the funeral service.
