A tragic incident has unfolded in Bugengi Village, Butula Constituency, Busia County, where a 14-year-old boy, Elvis Odhiambo, lost his life following a severe beating by his father.

Elvis, a Grade Six pupil, sustained critical head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. His mother, Gladys Adhiambo, recounted finding him in tears on the verandah shortly before his death. When she inquired about his distress, Elvis revealed that his father had assaulted him, causing intense pain in his head.

Dispute Over Grass Collection

According to a relative, Alphonce Onyango, the beating arose from a disagreement after Elvis reportedly refused his father's command to collect grass for thatching. Onyango also noted that the boy’s father was seen hastily leaving the area before the incident became known.

Neighbours who responded to the commotion found Elvis gravely injured. Despite attempts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries. The boy’s father is alleged to have fled the village, and another individual present during the event has also disappeared.
