A tragic incident unfolded in Bugengi Village, Butula Constituency, Busia County, where 14-year-old Elvis Odhiambo lost his life following an alleged assault by his father.

Elvis, a Grade Six pupil, reportedly suffered severe head injuries after a disagreement arose when he refused to collect grass thatch as instructed by his father. His mother, Gladys Adhiambo, found him crying on the veranda, complaining of intense head pain from the beating.

A relative, Alphonce Onyango, witnessed the boy’s father fleeing the scene hurriedly before the incident became widely known. Onyango recounted trying to question the man, but he ignored him and ran away.

Neighbors were alerted by the boy’s screams and found him gravely injured. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Elvis was pronounced dead on arrival.

Both the father and another individual reportedly involved in the assault have since disappeared from the village.

The police and local authorities have launched investigations into the case. The body has been taken to Sega Mortuary in Siaya County, where a post-mortem examination will determine the official cause of death.
