Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen recently introduced his children, son Humphrey Kiptoo and daughter Cherono, during a formal outdoor community event. The gathering, which appeared to be a rite of passage or celebration, was held under a tent and attracted media attention with several press microphones from outlets including Kass Media and NTV.
Murkomen, accompanied by his wife whom he affectionately called Mama Kiptoo, noted that two of his other children were not present. He invited Kiptoo and Cherono to join him at the front, ensuring they were recognised by the attendees.
Humphrey Kiptoo Addresses the Crowd
Taking the microphone confidently, Humphrey Kiptoo delivered a thoughtful speech highlighting the challenges that those being honoured had faced on their journey to manhood. He emphasised the perseverance and resilience required to overcome significant struggles.
"I have been told to speak about how they have gone through big struggles so that they come before us as men in the society," Kiptoo said. He then presented gifts to the honourees as a symbol of respect for their endurance, receiving applause from the audience.
A Family Moment at the Ceremony
The moment highlighted Murkomen’s pride in his children, as he ensured both Kiptoo and Cherono played meaningful roles in the proceedings. Cherono was also called upon to assist in presenting gifts, with Murkomen gently guiding the event to include his family.
The ceremony and the family introduction were captured on video and shared widely, drawing attention to the CS’s warm and supportive presence.
