Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has refuted recent claims suggesting that President William Ruto's administration reassigned some of his key government responsibilities to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
The reports, which appeared in major media outlets, alleged that Mudavadi was given oversight of the Intergovernmental Relations Act, and that Kindiki had stepped down as chairperson of the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC).
In response, Kindiki took to social media to dismiss the allegations succinctly, posting only the phrase "Fake news." He did not specify the media sources or address the details of the claims directly.
The statements sparked vigorous political debate online, reviving earlier assertions by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Gachagua had previously accused the administration of sidelining Kindiki, drawing parallels with his own political challenges.
Speaking at his Wamunyoro residence, Gachagua suggested that Kindiki was undergoing similar political isolation, allegedly orchestrated by President Ruto through encouragement of criticism from within the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
As of now, neither State House nor the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary has released formal statements to clarify the situation.
