Police in Kisii South Subcounty have launched investigations after a dismembered human leg was discovered along the banks of Iyabe River on August 14, 2026.
The limb, identified as a decomposed left human leg, was found wrapped in a red biohazard bag and appeared to have been severed with a sharp object. Authorities processed the scene before recovering the remains and transferring them to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital's mortuary.
The leg is currently being preserved pending identification and a postmortem examination. Investigators aim to establish the deceased's identity, the circumstances of death, and whether the dismemberment is linked to a homicide.

- In Mandera North Subcounty, a three-year-old girl died and her two-year-old sister was seriously injured after their mud-walled house collapsed due to termite damage. The injured child is receiving treatment at Rhamu Sub-County Hospital.
- In Homa Bay County, Paul Otieno Onge’ele drowned after slipping into River Opilu while crossing. Police are investigating whether alcohol consumption contributed to the incident.
