Kenya's defending 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala was eliminated in the semi-finals of the men's 100 metres at the 2026 Commonwealth Games held at Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow.
Omanyala placed sixth in his heat, unable to advance to the final round. Nigeria's Kayinsola Ajayi led the race, clocking an impressive 9.94 seconds to secure his place in the final.
The event was contested under challenging weather conditions, which affected the overall performance of the athletes. Despite Omanyala's strong track record as one of Africa's fastest sprinters, he struggled to match his usual form on the day.
The 30-year-old sprinter had carried high expectations into the Games, aiming to defend his title. His early exit means Kenya will not have representation in the 100m final, opening opportunities for other finalists who advanced in better form.
