Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has officially left the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), expressing deep dissatisfaction over her treatment within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking from her home in Kakuyuni, Malindi, Jumwa detailed a series of setbacks, including ignored appeals to President William Ruto regarding her gubernatorial ambitions for Kilifi County. She revealed that during a meeting between the President and Coast leaders, she was even asked to leave State House, an incident that underscored her growing disillusionment.
Jumwa, who was among UDA's founding members, lamented that despite her early involvement, she currently holds no government position and feels sidelined, even as the President expects her to campaign for his re-election on the promise of a Cabinet appointment.
Although she has not disclosed which party she will join, Jumwa assured supporters that she remains committed to contesting the Kilifi governor seat in 2027. She also appealed to President Ruto to refrain from retaliatory actions as she pursues her political path.
The former Cabinet Secretary attributed her departure to pressure from coalition leaders who reportedly plan not to field a UDA candidate for Kilifi’s gubernatorial race.
