Google has introduced a new setting within its Gemini AI platform that allows users to turn off the visible watermark on AI-generated images, videos, and music. This update offers creators greater flexibility in presenting their content without the default visible AI branding.
How to Disable the Visible Watermark
- Access Gemini via the web or app.
- Navigate to the Settings menu.
- Find the Media Watermark option.
- Select Off to disable the visible watermark.
- Create your AI-generated image, video, or music as usual.
It is important to note that this change only affects new content and the visible watermark. Google's invisible watermarking technology, SynthID, remains embedded in all AI-generated media. This ensures that content origin and authenticity can still be verified despite the absence of visible marks.
Why the Change Matters
The update caters to users who prefer a cleaner look for their AI-generated creations, such as for presentations, social media, or artistic projects. As AI-generated content becomes more widespread, balancing transparency with user control is increasingly critical.
While the visible watermark can now be hidden, SynthID and C2PA Content Credentials continue to provide invisible metadata that trace content history and confirm AI involvement. This dual approach maintains accountability while offering aesthetic flexibility.
The rollout of this feature is gradual, so some users may not immediately see the option in their Gemini settings.
