The High Court has acquitted rally driver Maxine Wahome of murder charges relating to the death of her boyfriend, Assad Khan.
In a ruling delivered on Tuesday, the court determined that the prosecution failed to present adequate evidence to prove the charge beyond a reasonable doubt. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was found to have not met the legal threshold required for a conviction.
Wahome, who had consistently denied the allegations throughout the trial, was accused following an incident in which Khan sustained fatal injuries reportedly linked to a domestic dispute.
With this verdict, the court has formally closed the criminal case against Wahome, concluding that the evidence presented was insufficient to sustain the prosecution's claims.
