Jean Ojiro was crowned Miss Universe Kenya 2026 at a spectacular event held on July 25 at Nairobi's Emara Ole Sereni Hotel. The competition, which began with 500 hopefuls, was narrowed down through rigorous stages to a final group of contestants, with Ojiro ultimately emerging victorious.

Journey to the Crown

The pageant started with 30 finalists who underwent a demanding boot camp that tested their communication, leadership, presentation, and advocacy skills. This process reduced the group to 15 before the grand finale. In the final rounds, Ojiro faced strong contenders including Mokera Onchiri, Mercy Awonda, and Immaculate Wachera, the latter having notable international pageant experience as a former first runner-up at Miss BRICS International.

Victory and Prize

The announcement of Ojiro as the winner sparked celebrations at the venue. Along with the national title, she received a Nissan Note and the honor to represent Kenya at the Miss Universe competition, which features contestants from over 100 countries.

Ojiro's Reaction

Shortly after her win, Ojiro expressed her emotions on Instagram, admitting she was overwhelmed and tearful. She thanked Kenyans for their support and pledged to make them proud on the international stage. "We did it! We brought it home," she wrote, describing her reaction as being "in shambles."

Jean Ojiro now prepares to carry Kenya's flag at the global Miss Universe pageant, aiming to showcase her country on the world stage.
