Former news anchor Ken Mijungu has sparked debate after publicly supporting President William Ruto’s administration during a podcast interview with Dr Ofweneke on July 23.
Despite the current low approval ratings for the government, Mijungu insisted that President Ruto has made sincere attempts to deliver on his promises. "Ruto has tried. The boy is pushing himself," he stated, urging Kenyans to evaluate the government's achievements objectively, beyond political biases.
Mijungu was clear that his endorsement is not motivated by personal gain. He revealed that he is currently unemployed and studying, with no financial ties to the government. "I get nothing from the government. They have not paid me, they have never paid me," he emphasized.
Addressing allegations of corruption within the administration, Mijungu acknowledged that misappropriation of public funds is a longstanding issue in Kenya, predating President Ruto’s tenure. He clarified that this is not an excuse but urged people to consider the overall progress made.
He concluded by describing Ruto as "an idea that was executed at the right time and manner." His remarks quickly circulated online, drawing mixed reactions from Kenyans, some finding his perspective refreshing while others disagreed.
