The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has issued a weather forecast covering the period from the evening of Monday, July 27, through to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Counties Expected to Receive Rainfall
Rainfall is anticipated in 19 counties spanning the Rift Valley, Western, Coast, and Central regions. The counties include:

- Bungoma
- Nakuru
- Kericho
- Kakamega
- Trans-Nzoia
- Vihiga
- Bomet
- Nandi
- Meru
- Elgeyo Marakwet
- West Pokot
- Mombasa
- Kwale
- Lamu
- Nyamira
- Embu
- Murang'a
- Nyandarua
Cloudy Conditions in Central and Eastern Kenya
Several counties in Central and Eastern Kenya are expected to experience intermittent cloud cover and overcast skies. These include Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Nairobi, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Kitui, Makueni, and Kajiado. Some of these, such as Embu, Meru, Murang'a, and Nyandarua, are also on the rainfall list.
Nairobi’s temperatures are forecast to range between a high of 23°C and a low of 13°C. Similar temperature ranges are expected in highland towns like Kericho, Bomet, Narok, and Nyamira, with night temperatures dropping to around 12°C or 13°C. Warmer conditions are predicted around the Lake Victoria basin, where towns such as Busia, Homa Bay, and Migori could reach highs of 30°C, while Kisumu and Siaya may experience highs of 29°C and lows near 18°C overnight.
Strong Winds Expected in Northern and Coastal Counties
The forecast also highlights strong southerly winds exceeding 25 knots affecting northern arid counties and the Coast. These include Marsabit, Isiolo, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, and Tana River in the north and northeast, as well as Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kitui along the coast.
Weather conditions throughout the forecast period will vary from partly cloudy spells to showers and thunderstorms in the affected regions.
