The Kenya Meteorological Department has published a five-day weather forecast covering 20 counties from Thursday, July 30, through Monday, August 3. The update highlights diverse weather conditions across the country, with some areas experiencing rainfall while others enjoy mostly sunny skies.
Weather Trends in Northern and Eastern Kenya
Counties in the northern and eastern parts of Kenya, including Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Meru, and Taita Taveta, are expected to have mostly sunny mornings and afternoons, accompanied by partly cloudy nights. Notably, Marsabit will see light rain on Thursday morning, and Meru is forecasted to receive light showers on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Temperatures in these regions will range from 15°C to 37°C.
Central and Northern Rift Valley Conditions
In central counties such as Kirinyaga, Murang'a, and Kiambu, alongside northern Rift Valley counties like Turkana, West Pokot, and Samburu, weather will shift between sunny intervals and cloud cover. Temperature variations are expected throughout the forecast period.
Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and Nairobi Weather
The Rift Valley counties of Narok, Kajiado, Kericho, and Bomet, together with Western counties Kakamega and Vihiga, will experience a mix of sunny spells, light showers, and moderate rains at different times. Temperatures here will generally range between 10°C and 30°C.
Nairobi and neighbouring counties Kisii and Nyamira face cooler and more variable weather. Nairobi's temperatures are projected to peak at 26°C on Sunday, August 2, after a low of 11°C on Thursday, July 30. A gradual warming trend will occur over the weekend before a slight temperature dip on Monday.
