The Kenya Leather Development Council (KLDC) has announced an open invitation for investors to take up space at the newly established Kenya Leather Industrial Park (KLIP) located in Kinanie, Machakos County. The 100-acre facility aims to position Kenya as a regional hub for leather manufacturing and related industries.
Investment Opportunities at KLIP
KLIP offers a variety of investment options designed to accommodate enterprises of different scales within the leather value chain:
- Two 5,000 m² industrial warehouses for large-scale tannery operations
- Two 2-acre plots for large tannery development
- Three 1.5-acre plots for medium tannery development
- Two 0.7-acre plots for small tannery enterprises
- Two 2,500 m² warehouse spaces for leather product manufacturing
- Three 2-acre plots for large-scale leather product manufacturers
- Ten 1-acre plots for medium-scale leather product manufacturers
- Three 1-acre plots for micro and small leather product enterprises
- Three 1-acre plots for auxiliary industries including tannery chemicals, machinery repairs, and accessories
Application Process
The KLDC is accepting applications on a rolling basis from both local and international investors with proven commercial, technical, and financial capacity in leather or related sectors. Interested parties must meet specific occupation criteria available on the Council's website.

KLIP is designed as a sustainable and environmentally responsible industrial park featuring a Common Effluent Treatment Plant and pollution control measures. The park offers a one-stop environment for leather industry stakeholders, aligning with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
