Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced scheduled electricity interruptions across selected areas in Nairobi, Nyeri, Kwale, and Mombasa counties on Thursday, July 30, 2026. These outages will occur between 9am and 5pm to facilitate essential maintenance and network improvements.
Reason for Outages
The planned power cuts are part of routine efforts to maintain power lines, connect new customers to the grid, and replace aging infrastructure. KPLC issued the notice under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules, emphasizing the necessity of these interruptions to ensure reliable electricity supply.
Affected Areas
- Nairobi County (9am - 5pm): Nairobi West including Msufu Road, Sumba Road, Naimei Road, Mombasa Road vicinity, Nyayo Stadium, Strathmore University, Langata Technical College, and surrounding neighborhoods.
- Nyeri County (9am - 5pm): Jumbi Farm, Msafiri, Gatuamba Village, Kwa J, Huhoini, and adjacent areas.
- Kwale County (9am - 4pm): Mrima, Lunga Lunga, Vanga, Horohoro, and nearby localities.
- Mombasa County (9am - 5pm): Liwatoni, Autoport, including Doshi Hardware, Kenya Fisheries, Bandari College, Zanzibar Road, and surrounding zones.
Residents in the affected locations are advised to plan accordingly and expect temporary power outages during the specified hours.
