Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced planned power outages on Wednesday, July 29, across six counties as part of scheduled system maintenance.
The interruptions, permitted under Electric Power Rules 27, are necessary for new connections, infrastructure upgrades, and replacement of damaged power poles. Most outages will start from 9am and last up to eight hours, with some areas beginning at 8am.
Counties and Affected Areas
- Mombasa: Moyne Drive, Greenwood Drive, Fidel Odinga Road, Exhibition Road, Nyoka Road, Nyali Police, Jamhuri Drive, Park Lane, Neem Lane, Light Academy, Nyali Barracks, and several hotels including Bahari, Voyager, Reef, and Mombasa Beach Hotels (9am–5pm).
- Kilifi: Kibao Kiche, Mariakanii, Kaloleni Road, Nasuminangu and surrounding areas (9am–2pm).
- Kisumu: Kisumu Concrete, Ndugu Transport, Mamboleo Market, Obwolo, Skylack, Ong’adi and adjacent customers (9am–5pm).
- Nyeri: Wariruta Market, Sagana Falls Village, Mutathi-ini, Ruanyaga Village, Thaithi Market, along with Safaricom and Airtel Boosters (8am–5pm).
- Kirinyaga: Kiaumbui, Gathoge, part of Kanjo Market, Njukiini and nearby customers (9am–5pm).
- Embu: Two zones affected: Nthagaiya, Ugweri including Macumo Secondary School, Kiringa Market, and adjacent areas; and Siakago, Kirie, Kathanje covering Kanothi, Kwamurindi Market, Mbingori, and surrounding locations (9am–5pm).
KPLC has urged residents and businesses in these areas to prepare for the outages by making necessary arrangements.
