Kurgat finished fourth in a rain-soaked and tactical final, closing strongly but unable to match the finishing kick of Australia’s Ky Robinson, who claimed gold. India’s Gulveer Singh took silver, while David Mullarkey of Australia secured bronze.
Joining Kurgat, fellow Kenyans Daniel Simiu Ebenyo and Ishmael Rokitto also failed to secure medals, marking a continued challenge for Kenya in this event since Wilberforce Talel’s last victory in 2002.
