Joe Thige, a Kenyan resident in China, has publicly shared footage capturing a tense confrontation with his Chinese neighbours. The dispute, which has lasted several weeks, revolves around items left in a shared basement storage area by a previous tenant.
Thige lives with his wife and children in a government-owned apartment acquired through a legal rental agreement. He alleges that some neighbours have been harassing his family in an attempt to force them out.
Incident Escalates to Physical Confrontation
According to Thige, the situation escalated when a middle-aged neighbour attempted to enter his home without permission. Thige refused entry, leading to a physical altercation during which he claims the neighbour assaulted him.
Subsequently, the neighbour reported the incident to the police, accusing Thige of trying to injure her hand. Thige insists he recorded the entire encounter and considers the video crucial to his defence.
Police Investigation Underway
Authorities have informed Thige of plans to conduct a thorough inspection of his apartment, including photographing each room, as part of their inquiry. The reasons behind this detailed inspection have not been clarified.
Thige is cooperating with the investigation and remains confident that the recorded footage will clarify the conflicting accounts.
