Corporal (W) Marjorie Bosibori, 42, was discovered dead inside the locked radio room at Kisii Central Police Station on the morning of July 28, 2026. The officer, who served as a signaller, showed no visible signs of distress during her shift according to Kisii OCPD Musa Omari.

OCPD Omari recounted that Bosibori arrived for duty and performed normally throughout the day. After midnight, she told colleagues she wanted to use the bathroom but instead entered the radio room and locked the door from inside. Her body was found by a colleague who forced the door open around 8 a.m.

Investigations revealed Bosibori had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. An AK-47 rifle, issued to her the previous evening for a security detail at Quickmart Supermarket, was found beside her along with a spent cartridge.

Crime scene officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations processed the scene and collected evidence, including:

  • The AK-47 rifle
  • One spent cartridge
  • A magazine loaded with 29 rounds
  • The padlock key used on the radio room door
  • Assorted medical drugs
  • Three mobile phones

No suicide note was found among her belongings. Bosibori’s body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The officer’s sudden death has left colleagues and the community shocked, as no indications of mental or emotional distress were observed prior to the incident.
