Lando Norris emerged victorious at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, marking his first race win of the 2026 Formula One season. Starting from pole position, the reigning world champion initially ceded the lead to McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri but regained it to secure the top spot.
Despite hopes for a McLaren one-two finish, Piastri retired with a gearbox failure 15 laps before the end while running second behind Norris. The win at Hungaroring represents Norris's second consecutive triumph at the circuit and his first grand prix victory since last November in Sao Paulo.
Max Verstappen finished second, matching his best result this season amid a challenging weekend for Red Bull. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli recovered from a pre-race three-place grid penalty to claim third place on the podium, extending his points lead to 50 over Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton, who started fourth, dropped to fifth after a five-second pit lane speeding penalty, falling behind Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. The Formula One calendar now pauses for the summer break, with racing set to resume at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort on August 23.
