A woman from Bungoma, Naliaka, who gained national attention for hugging a tree continuously for more than 24 hours to show her support for the Linda Mwananchi Movement, has been rewarded with over Sh100,000.
The cash was handed to her by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, leader of the movement, in a ceremony where he praised her dedication. Photos from the event showed Sifuna embracing Naliaka and presenting the money as supporters applauded her gesture.

In a related fundraising effort, residents of Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County, spontaneously contributed cash donations ranging from Sh20 coins to Sh50 notes during a political rally supporting the Linda Mwananchi Movement.
Videos shared on social media captured supporters approaching Sifuna’s convoy to hand over small amounts, demonstrating widespread grassroots backing.
Sifuna Advocates for People-Powered Funding
Speaking to the crowd, Sifuna stressed that his movement prioritizes funding from ordinary Kenyans rather than relying on affluent donors who may seek political favors.
