Mombasa International Agricultural Show Set for September 2-6 with Over 200 Exhibitors
The Mombasa International Agricultural Show returns September 2-6, featuring 200+ exhibitors, 700 livestock, and a focus on climate-smart agriculture.
The annual Mombasa International Agricultural Show is scheduled to take place from September 2 to 6 at the Mombasa showground, with preparations well underway.
Event Highlights and Participation
According to Henry Nyaga, Chairperson of the ASK Mombasa branch, this year’s event promises to be larger than previous editions. More than 200 exhibitors from diverse sectors including trade, tourism, manufacturing, transport, and wildlife will showcase their offerings. Over 700 heads of livestock will be displayed, providing educational opportunities for schoolchildren to learn about various animal species.
The event’s theme, “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiative for Sustainable Economic Growth,” aims to attract farmers, entrepreneurs, business professionals, and youth.
Returning and International Exhibitors
Several organisations that paused participation during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as KEMRI, SHA, and KICC, are making a comeback. International representation includes exhibitors from over seven countries, notably India and Pakistan. The Ugandan consulate has already established its presence and plans to bring 16 companies to the show.
Focus on Blue Economy and Local Support
Nyaga emphasized the untapped potential of the coastal region’s blue economy, highlighting its capacity to create employment for young people through investment and value addition. He urged the Mombasa county government to continue supporting farmers with inputs like seedlings and fertilisers, which would enhance food production and generate jobs.
