National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula visited Kisii County on Sunday, 27 July, as part of the ongoing Tutam campaigns. The visit focused on Kitutu Chache North Constituency, where Wetang’ula attended a church service and led a fundraising event at Orwako PAG Church.

The Speaker’s visit was at the invitation of the area Member of Parliament, Japheth Nyakundi, signaling efforts to expand the Tutam campaign’s influence into the larger Gusii region.

Wetang’ula Appeals to Church for National Unity

Addressing congregants during the fund drive, Wetang’ula emphasized the vital role of the church in fostering Kenya’s moral values and social cohesion. He called on religious institutions to continue praying for peace and coexistence across the nation.

“The Church is the cornerstone of societal norms. We continue to encourage the Church to pray for our country’s peace and coexistence,” Wetang’ula stated.

Expanding Tutam’s Reach in Kisii

The visit underscores the Tutam campaign’s strategy to engage grassroots supporters beyond its traditional bases. Kitutu Chache North, known for its competitive political landscape, represents a key focus area for the campaign’s regional growth.

Wetang’ula’s presence in Kisii highlights the campaign’s ambition to consolidate support in the western parts of Kenya ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
