Instead of ignoring the moment, Gitonga took to Facebook to publicly express his appreciation for the fan's dedication and pledged to find the person behind the device. He wrote, "Mwenye haka kasimu nitafutiwe. I see what I can do. Thanks for the love and support. Pia mimi nawapenda nyote," inviting others to help identify the supporter.
The image, shared on social media, sparked widespread attention as the contrast between the old keypad phone and modern smartphones was striking. Many Kenyans responded warmly to the MP's gesture, highlighting the strong connection between Gitonga and his supporters.
