Dagoretti South Member of Parliament John Kiarie has urged the National Assembly Transport Committee to reassess the deployment of road surveillance cameras across the country.
Speaking in Parliament, Kiarie emphasized the need for clearly marked speed limit zones to accompany the camera rollout. He argued that penalties should be directed at the drivers responsible for traffic violations rather than the vehicle owners.
"If the penalty system is to be digitized, it must be backed by proper road infrastructure, including clear traffic signs and appropriate road furniture," Kiarie stated.
This call comes amid ongoing efforts to enhance road safety in Kenya, where digital enforcement measures have been increasingly adopted.
