MP Kiborek Welcomes Gachagua to Emurua Dikirr, Calls for Peace Amid Rally Security Concerns
Emurua Dikirr MP Reuben Kiborek welcomes former DP Rigathi Gachagua to the constituency, urging peaceful conduct ahead of his planned DCP rally amid security worries.
Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Reuben Kiborek has extended a warm welcome to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ahead of his planned Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) rally in the constituency.
In a statement posted on his X account on August 20, 2026, Kiborek emphasized that all political leaders are welcome in Emurua Dikirr regardless of their affiliations. He urged Gachagua and his supporters to conduct their rally peacefully, assuring that residents would allow the expression of political views without confrontation.
"Rigathi Kasiakua, karibu sana Emurua Dikirr!" Kiborek said, adding, "Come in peace, chant your slogans, sema One Term, sema Kasongo, sema Saprano then uende kwa amani. We are peaceful people. Karibu sana!"
Security Concerns Ahead of Rally
Gachagua’s visit comes amid heightened security concerns. On the same day, August 20, he wrote to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja requesting security guarantees for himself, his entourage, and supporters during the event.
In his letter, Gachagua cited reports of threats allegedly issued by the current Emurua Dikirr MP David Kipsang Keter and others, warning that they intended to block his entry into the constituency. He stressed his constitutional right to hold political activities anywhere in Kenya and called on security agencies to ensure a safe environment for his supporters.
The planned rally is seen as a strategic move by Gachagua to consolidate the DCP’s influence in the Rift Valley ahead of the 2027 General Election, following divisions exposed during the recent parliamentary by-election.
