Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, popularly known as Samidoh, has officially declared his intention to run for the parliamentary seat of Ol Joro Orok Constituency in Nyandarua County ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a statement to residents, Samidoh emphasized that his decision is grounded in his personal connection to the constituency and his desire to engage directly in leadership, rather than relying on his fame as a musician.

Roots and Personal Journey

Describing Ol Joro Orok as his home, Samidoh recounted his challenging upbringing, including being orphaned at a young age. He highlighted how determination, faith, and hard work enabled him to rise from difficult circumstances to serve in the Kenya Police Service before embarking on a successful music career.

"I am a son of Ol Joro Orok. This is home. This is where my journey began," he said, noting that his journey took him from local villages to national and international stages.

From Music to Politics

While acknowledging his musical success, Samidoh made it clear that his political ambitions are driven by a commitment to effect change through direct participation in governance.

"There comes a time when speaking about change is not enough. One must seek to participate in the institutions where decisions are made and laws are enacted," he stated.

He also referenced his involvement in the "One Term" campaign, which reinforced his belief in the importance of holding leaders accountable and representing citizens' voices effectively.

Policy Focus and Vision

Education stands out as a priority in Samidoh's agenda. He envisions an Ol Joro Orok where no child is denied schooling due to financial constraints. To ease the burden on families, he proposes a model where parents contribute to food and agreed necessities while the government progressively addresses tuition fees.

Samidoh further highlighted the constituency's hardworking farmers, entrepreneurs, professionals, women, and youth, underscoring the need for better representation and opportunity access to unlock their potential.

Political Impact

Samidoh's entry into the race is expected to introduce a fresh dynamic to the contest for Ol Joro Orok's parliamentary seat, as he seeks to translate his public profile and life experiences into effective political leadership.
