Nairobi city authorities have announced a stringent traffic enforcement campaign targeting Adams Arcade, a notorious accident hotspot along Ngong Road. This move follows a safety assessment that recorded seven fatal and 21 serious crashes in the area.
The pilot initiative will start in Kilimani before extending to other high-risk zones across Nairobi, including Kasarani. It aims to address key issues such as speeding, reckless driving, and failure to yield to pedestrians.
Background and Assessment
The safety review was conducted under the Strengthening of Safe System Approach to Road Traffic Accidents in Kenya project, a collaboration between government agencies, Nairobi City County Government, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project promotes safer road user behavior, improved infrastructure, and enhanced traffic management.

- Prestige Shopping Mall junction
- Ole Dume Road junction
- Jamhuri junction
These spots were highlighted during a recent Joint Coordination Committee meeting at USIU-Africa, where stakeholders reviewed progress and planned further safety measures.
Call to Road Users
Former Nairobi Finance and Economic Planning CECM Charles Kerich urged motorists and pedestrians to comply with traffic regulations as enforcement intensifies. He emphasized the need to reduce accidents and enhance safety along busy corridors, particularly at Adams Arcade, which has been linked to several serious incidents including a pedestrian fatality in March 2025 involving a vehicle from the presidential motorcade.
