Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has indicated plans to leave the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as he pursues a new political platform to support his 2027 presidential bid. This announcement follows his recent removal as ODM Secretary-General and loss of his Senate leadership role.
Addressing supporters at a Linda Mwananchi rally in Bungoma's Posta Grounds, Sifuna urged his followers to back a new party, describing the current ODM turmoil as akin to a family destabilised after the death of its patriarch, Raila Odinga.

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya dismissed rivalry rumours and urged the Luhya community to unite behind Sifuna, highlighting the region's history of backing candidates from other communities.
Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi revealed plans to form a new political party to back Sifuna’s candidacy, stating that Western Kenya’s support would hinge on engaging with him directly.
Bumula MP Jack Wamboka and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino also endorsed Sifuna, calling on other opposition figures to unite behind him as the strongest contender against President William Ruto.
This rally marks Sifuna's clearest step toward establishing a new political direction outside ODM as he positions himself for the 2027 general election.
