Nigerian woman Keturah Stephen's playful Facebook post in January about seeking a wedding date unexpectedly blossomed into a lasting relationship, culminating in marriage within seven months.

From Joke to Proposal

On January 10, Keturah posted: "My wedding date is supposed to be 16th May 2026. Is there a man willing to take the risk? Send me a DM, let's talk." While most dismissed it, Joel Gojeh from Ghana saw the post shortly after praying about his future wife and reached out to her directly.

They moved their conversation to WhatsApp, and after Joel’s ministry engagement in Abuja, he traveled to Kaduna on February 15 to meet Keturah. Unbeknownst to her, he brought an engagement ring, which he quietly left in her kitchen before proposing. She accepted, and their official relationship began on February 16.

Rapid but Intentional Courtship

Keturah had expressed to God her wish for a short courtship lasting no more than six months. Joel promised to show her that God’s timing was perfect. Within two weeks, Joel formally declared his intentions to her family and presented traditional gifts.

By May 9, Joel’s family paid the bride price, securing their traditional marriage before Keturah’s 35th birthday. The couple then held their church wedding on July 26.

Building a Strong Foundation

  • They attended three marriage counseling sessions during their brief courtship.
  • They introduced themselves early to their pastors.
  • They regularly studied Scripture and prayed together.

Keturah credits this focused approach for bringing peace amid the swift timeline. She reflected, "God is never late. He doesn't need years to accomplish what He has planned. When His timing meets your obedience, beautiful things can happen faster than you ever imagined."
