A 30-year-old police officer, Police Constable Dennis Kibet Cheruiyot, was discovered dead inside his residential quarters located within the Presidential Escort Unit (PEU) lines in Juja Sub-County, Kiambu County.
Authorities responded early Wednesday morning after the officer was found with a gunshot wound. Senior police officials, including the PEU Deputy Commandant and the Juja Sub-County Police Commander, visited the scene alongside Crime Scene Investigators.
At the residence, investigators recovered a service firearm and found evidence suggesting a single gunshot was fired. A three-page note was also discovered nearby, reportedly outlining the officer's personal struggles and final wishes, though its contents remain confidential.
Forensic teams processed the crime scene, while the body was transported to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Juja has launched a probe to determine the full circumstances surrounding the death.
