Security forces in Njoro Sub-County, Nakuru County, have stepped up efforts to eliminate illegal alcohol production and gambling operations. A joint team from the Kenya Police Service and Administration Police conducted raids across eight homes in Segutiet-Ndarugu village, Sigotik Sub-Location.
During the operation, officers arrested 39-year-old Vivian Chelagat, who was found with 20 litres of kangara, an illicit brew. Several litres of chang'aa and kangara were discarded by residents who fled upon the arrival of law enforcement.
The police also destroyed brewing equipment including drums and plastic containers used for distilling. Additionally, multiple illegal lotto machines operating at Tagitech Trading Centre were confiscated and secured at the Njoro Sub-County headquarters pending destruction.
All seized items have been taken to Nessuit Police Station and will undergo analysis by the Government Chemist. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue ahead of her court arraignment.
This operation is part of a broader two-week Rapid Results Initiative aimed at curbing illicit activities within the region.
