Authorities at Kisii Central Police Station are investigating the death of a female police officer discovered inside the station under tragic circumstances.

The officer, identified as Bosibori, had reported for duty on Monday afternoon and was working alongside a colleague during their shift. According to Kisii Central Sub-County Police Commander Musa Omari Imamai, the two officers returned to the station later that night.

Before her death, Bosibori requested permission to use the washroom but instead entered a disused communications office, locking the door behind her. Hours passed without contact, prompting fellow officers to force entry, where they found her deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Commander Imamai noted that the 42-year-old officer showed no visible signs of distress during her duty and did not leave a note or indication explaining her actions.

The body has been moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination as detectives continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This event has highlighted ongoing concerns about the mental health and well-being of law enforcement personnel.
