The Public Service Commission (PSC) has unveiled a 12-month paid internship programme targeting recent university graduates. Announced in the MyGov publication on July 28, 2026, the initiative aims to provide hands-on experience and skill development to boost employability and entrepreneurial readiness.
Programme Details
The Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) offers attachments across Ministries, Departments, State Agencies, Corporations, and Public Universities for the 2026/2027 financial year. This government-driven youth empowerment scheme seeks to enhance participants' practical skills, networking opportunities, and readiness for future employment or business ventures.
Application Process and Eligibility
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
- Graduation should be no earlier than 2020.
- Proficiency in computer skills is required.
- Applicants should not have previously benefited from a similar internship programme.
Interested graduates are encouraged to submit their applications via the PSC job portals at www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke by August 17, 2026.
Stipend and Responsibilities
Interns will receive a government-determined stipend throughout the programme. Once placed, interns are expected to:
- Carry out assigned duties as agreed with supervisors.
- Document skills acquired during their placement.
- Engage actively in mentorship and other programme activities.
Completion and Certification
Participants who successfully complete the internship will be awarded a certificate, recognising their achievement and enhanced competencies.
Additional Employment Opportunities
In parallel, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has advertised over 50,000 vacancies, including 20,000 permanent teaching positions and more than 34,000 promotion opportunities. TSC has cautioned applicants to be vigilant against fraudulent recruitment schemes.
