Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to enhance security in Meru County by building both a General Service Unit (GSU) camp and a military camp if elected Kenya's president in 2027.
Speaking at a political rally in Meru town on Sunday, 27 July, Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), criticised the current administration led by President William Ruto for failing to curb increasing insecurity in the region.

Addressing residents, Gachagua stated, "If you elect me as the sixth President of the Republic of Kenya next year, I will build a military camp and a GSU camp in Meru." He did not disclose specific locations for the proposed camps.
