President William Ruto has affirmed the government's commitment to expanding the Financial Inclusion Fund, widely known as the Hustler Fund, following notable progress in providing affordable credit to Kenyans.

In a statement issued after reviewing the fund's performance, the President highlighted that the initiative has disbursed Sh90 billion to 28 million borrowers via its three main loan products: Personal Loan, Bridge Loan, and Hustler Groups.

Ruto emphasized the fund's role as a key driver of financial inclusion, offering low-cost loans through a fully digital platform that encourages responsible borrowing and saving habits.

Key Achievements

  • The fund currently lends about Sh50 million daily, reflecting high demand for accessible government-backed credit.
  • Approximately 10 million borrowers have taken repeat loans, with 4.5 million achieving top credit scores (A and B) due to timely repayments.
  • Borrowers have collectively saved Sh7 billion, advancing the fund’s goal of fostering a national savings culture.

President Ruto praised the digital infrastructure underpinning the fund, calling it a testament to the government’s push towards digitizing public services to enhance efficiency.

Launched by the Kenya Kwanza administration, the Hustler Fund targets individuals and small businesses often excluded from traditional financial institutions, aiming to reduce dependence on costly informal lenders and stimulate entrepreneurship.

"We will continue resourcing the fund so that Kenyans can access the most affordable credit in the country," Ruto stated, underlining the government's focus on broadening financial inclusion and supporting economic growth through sustained investment in the programme.
