President William Ruto on Sunday, 27 July, in Amagoro Town, Teso North, Busia County, issued a stark warning against the opposition, describing them as a serious threat to Kenya's economic stability and the welfare of future generations.
Addressing residents, the president urged Kenyans to unite behind his government, which he portrayed as a transformative force fostering growth and expanding opportunities nationwide.
Ruto's Warning to Opposition
"The opposition are an existential problem to our country. They are not only a threat to our economy but also to the future of our children," Ruto stated emphatically. He appealed to citizens to support his administration's agenda and avoid obstructing the country's development.
"We ask Kenyans to rally behind this Government; a transformative administration that is driving growth and expanding opportunities for everyone. Those who are not for progress and development should not stand in the way of our country's transformation," he added.
Sifuna's Rally in Bungoma
While President Ruto spoke in Busia, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna attracted thousands of supporters at a high-profile rally held at Posta Grounds in Bungoma County. The large turnout highlighted the enduring influence of opposition figures in western Kenya.
The simultaneous events underscored the intensifying political competition ahead of the 2027 General Election, with both the ruling party and opposition mobilizing support in key western counties.
