Safaricom PLC has alerted Absa shareholders who bought shares via its Ziidi Trader platform about the ongoing share buyback offer by Absa Group. The banking group has proposed to repurchase eligible shares at Ksh34.50 each.

In a notice released on July 29, 2026, Safaricom clarified that participation in the buyback is optional. Shareholders can either accept the offer or retain their shares. The deadline to respond is set for August 11, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

  • Navigate to the Ziidi Trader section under "My Finances."
  • Complete and submit the Absa Share Offer Acceptance Form.

Safaricom highlighted that the entire process is digital, allowing investors to engage with the offer remotely without visiting any branch.

Shareholders’ Options

Shareholders retain full discretion to either sell their eligible shares at the offered price or hold onto their investments. No action is required for those who choose not to participate.

Investors are encouraged to review the offer carefully and submit their decisions before the August 11 deadline.
