Safaricom has introduced new features on its One App that provide customers with affordable income protection and device insurance, aiming to ease financial burdens during emergencies.
Income Protection with Tuunza Mapato
The Tuunza Mapato feature offers hospital cash and funeral cover starting from just Ksh 60 per week. This plan provides up to Ksh 30,000 for hospital stays and Ksh 100,000 for funeral expenses.
Premiums are automatically deducted via M-Ratiba, Safaricom’s scheduled payment system, ensuring continuous coverage without the need for manual renewals. If a payment fails due to insufficient M-Pesa balance, customers receive alerts to top up and maintain their protection.
Device Insurance through Tuunza Simu
Safaricom customers who purchased phones from its shops, including through Masoko or pay-as-you-go plans, can now insure their devices against accidental damage and theft after the manufacturer’s warranty expires.
Claims are managed through Safaricom’s authorized service centers, offering repair or replacement options to keep customers connected without bearing full replacement costs alone.
How to Access These Features
- Update or download the latest version of the My One App.
- Navigate to Do More With M-Pesa > Insure and Protect.

These additions to the One App provide a simple, budget-friendly way for millions of Kenyans to safeguard their finances and devices, reducing the risk of unexpected costs during difficult times.
