Sammy Ngotho has officially taken office as the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency, making history as the first legislator elected under the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) banner.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on July 28, 2026, with Ngotho affirming his commitment to serve his constituents and uphold the Constitution of Kenya.
DCP Shows Unified Support
The event was marked by a strong show of party solidarity. Nyandarua Senator John Methu, alongside several DCP-allied lawmakers including East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Kanini Kiega, attended the ceremony wearing the party’s signature bright green blazers. This coordinated display highlighted the party’s enthusiasm following its first parliamentary seat victory.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula called for order during the proceedings and encouraged celebrations to continue outside the chamber.
Victory in a Competitive By-Election
Ngotho secured his seat by garnering 35,440 votes in a closely contested by-election in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County. His win not only reflects his personal appeal, rooted in his humble background, but also represents a significant milestone for the DCP, which had not previously held any parliamentary seats.
