Authorities have recovered all seven victims from the Mt Ololokwe helicopter crash site and are conducting DNA analysis to establish their identities. The helicopter carrying six tourists and a Kenyan pilot crashed on Wednesday near Mt Ololokwe in Samburu County.

Samburu County Police Commander David Nkoroi confirmed that some bodies were severely burnt, making visual identification impossible. Samples have been taken to Nairobi for forensic examination.

The crash site was handed over to the aircraft accident investigation team, who have begun examining the wreckage to determine the cause of the accident. Investigators are also searching for the helicopter's black box, which could provide vital flight data and cockpit recordings.

  • The helicopter, a Eurocopter EC130 B4 registered 5Y-GYM and operated by Lady Lori charter services, was transporting tourists from Loisaba Conservancy in Laikipia County to Mt Ololokwe.
  • Among the deceased are Ecuador’s intelligence chief Michele Sensi-Contugi and his wife Stephany Hollihan Yeaza, who held dual Ecuadorian and American citizenship.
  • Other victims include Roger Edward Duarte, José Alberto Suárez, Adam Hlavaty, and Henry Parra.

Local guides reported the helicopter circled the mountain summit multiple times before attempting to land at a popular tourist spot. The crash scattered debris and personal belongings around the site.
